Summer Update & Music Licensing News


Hey everyone!

I hope you all are having a good summer! I just thought I'd send out a quick update on what I've been up to, as well as give some of my music pack subscribers an update on the licensing situation that came up a couple months ago.

I'll tackle the licensing news first. A few months ago, a music licensing company contacted me saying they wanted to exclusively license the Lullaby and Lofi Lounge tracks for some of their projects. This would have affected anyone intending to commercialize their work using those tracks, and I sent out an email to just my music pack subscribers about it. After reading through the contract, digging into some of the context, and consulting a lawyer, it turned out that this contract was not as good as it claimed to be and was borderline exploitative. I have declined moving forward with it, so anyone using Lofi Lounge and Lullaby are no longer affected. For anyone who may have been affected, thanks for sticking with me on this!

Now on a lighter note, some other updates!

I have received a certification as a Pro Tools Professional! For those who don't know what that is, Pro Tools is the industry standard audio editing software, used both in music as well as in film and games for things like sound effects, dialogue, and foley. I will be taking the Pro Tools Game Audio certification exam soon as well, which covers more of the sound effects, dialogue, cinematics, and Unity. I'm even learning Wwise and Fmod, which are both industry standard audio middleware for games.

I'm on my final full time school term starting next week, and am starting to plan out new changes to my online presence and the services I plan to offer as a composer and audio professional. Time has flown by and I have both expanded my audio skillset and learned a lot about myself in the process. Stay tuned, and as always, thank you to everyone for your continued support!
